What To Expect |
 |
We know that it can be intimidating to walk through the door of a church you've never been in before, so here are some of the basics about what you can expect:
When Are The Services?
Our Morning Worship starts at 11 a.m.
Sunday School begins at 10 a.m.
Our Sunday Evening Worship is at 6 p.m. and our Wednesday Evening Service is at 7 p.m.
What To Wear
Most visitors want to make sure they don't stick out by being under- or over-dressed. Our dress tends toward the casual. You'll see a few people in suits, but most of our people wear clothes like you would wear on "Casual Fridays" at work. Our ushers often come forward in jeans. We think it's more important to get ready for worship by preparing your heart than by preparing your body. |

Am I Welcome?
You can anticipate a warm welcome when you visit Poca Baptist. We love seeing new faces. A comment we hear all the time is folks saying, "I felt at home from the moment I walked through the front doors." We hope so, because we want you to feel like family.
Kids
All the details about our Puppet Team can be found by clicking on the Kids page.
Preaching
About the last half of the time spent in worship will be a sermon. Our pastor works hard to present messages that have relevance to our daily lives and that help us to be able to live out our faith every day. There are usually "fill-in-the-blank" sermon outlines in the bulletin for folks to follow along with during the message. |

Music
Our music is lively, but that's the way we like it. Our instrumentalists usually include a keyboard, a couple electric guitars, and a bass, playing as we sing from the hymnal. We've got an enormous amount of musical talent in our church.
Offering
We take up an offering at most services, but, as our guest, you are not expected to make a donation. This is an opportunity for our members and regular attenders to give back to the Lord who has given so much to them.
Invitation
At the close of the sermon, the pastor will give an invitation. This is a time when those who have decided to make a commitment to the Lord that day, those who wish to join our church, or those who desire to spend a moment in prayer at the altar can come forward. During this time, you will not be singled out in any way. Of course, if the Holy Spirit has been moving in your heart during the worship service and you desire to come forward, we would be overjoyed for you to do so.
